A Foggy Day

Yesterday was really foggy and made for some really great photos - I grabbed a few on my way to the office.

A Very Different Maternity Session

I've bugged Teddi for months about her maternity portrait. I wanted her in the mountains, in the snow, on the railroad tracks - she had heard it all. So, when it came down to THE day - I was driving by a mall they were demolishing and thought "this is it!!!". We did a few portraits at my studio and then headed down to the construction area. All the construction workers laughed to themselves and we saw a few shaking their heads - oh, well - we were there to do something different and I think we succeeded! Comments???

Thanks, Teddi for being such a good sport! I love the last one - I have to say, it's not easy photographing a photographer because they always know what's coming next.......

New York, Anyone?

After feeling guilty about not blogging for weeks now.....time for some inspiration!

I LOVE NEW YORK! Anyone you know getting married in New York - I'd love to come photograph your wedding!!

Thinking About New York

I'm sitting here at my desk thinking about the Knot article on Adrian and Angellique. There are so many images that tell a story and while the Knot was great at covering the details from the day, there were so many more images that I really loved from that wedding! Angellique and Adrian expected and gave me total creative freedom on their day - here are a few spreads from their wedding album.

The Knot New York Metro Issue - Spring/Summer '08

We are super excited to learn that we are featured in TWO Knot Wedding Magazines at the same time! Angellique and Adrian's wedding has to be one of my all-time favorites! Shooting in New York is an inspiring experience and you have to love her powder blue wedding dress and Adrian's vibrant red hair!

A Film Portrait

I've been craving FILM for a while now - so I busted out my trusty old Hasselblad camera to see if it still worked. It did actually work (not bad for a camera that's about 40 years old) and, except for a focusing issue (which has been repaired) we are good to go! I have to say it was really fun to play around with the camera again and get used to all the workings of using a camera that requires YOU to be in total control. I'm hoping to use it more and more - especially at weddings!

Random

I have the coolest clients EVER! Here is a photo of Bailey on her wedding day. I fully expected her to say NO WAY when I suggested she have snow blown all over her. To my surprise, she happily said YES! and made my whole day! I love these portraits of her and the wind blowing snow all around her. I felt horrible that she had to do her make-up again, but she'll always remember these portraits and how much fun we had and how original they are!

Brooke & Brett & Belly

I'm really trying to make an effort to blog more - I swear!!
This is Brooke and Brett - I photographed their wedding in 2005 in San Diego on the beach - it was awesome! They are completely thrilled to have baby Scarlett come along! I just love the name Scarlett - after Gone with the Wind (of course!)

A couple of my favorites from the Mexico wedding.......more later (and some hilarious personal shots of 3 burros that were quite attracted to our rental car!)..........

Searching for Ghost Towns in Texas

My good friend and fellow photographer Peggy came down to Austin a few months ago for a visit and we spent a couple of days exploring Texas - looking for ghost towns, old cemeteries, abandoned buildings - anything spooky. We also spent an afternoon in San Antonio photographing the missions - we photographed a lot of cool stuff!

I especially like the old gas pump - I think it says 28 cents a gallon - that sure would be nice today!

Oh, here is Peggy's website - she's an awesome portrait artist (and wedding photographer): www.peggydyer.com. She also thought the street sign was very amusing.........I agree!
